CBRE opens new HCMC office

After 16 years in Vietnam’s real estate market, CBRE Vietnam recently marked a new milestone by opening a new main office in Ho Chi Minh City, at the A&B Tower building in District 1, which is designed with an open office concept focusing on elements such as modernity, comfort and flexibility.

The office has an open work space with low desks and hot desks for staff to choose where they feel most comfortable. At the end of each working day, the desk is fully cleared and returned to its original state. Highly advanced computer and phone systems are installed at each desk so that staff can move to different desks without affecting the use of equipment.

Phu My Hung pours millions USD into infrastructure

The Phu My Hung Development Corporation announced that a number of infrastructure works are set to be finished this year. The Ca Cam 1 Bridge, which cost US$4 million, is the first infrastructure work put into operation at the end of 2018. The bridge, on Tan Phu Road and spanning the Rach Cau Cam River, plays an important role since it connects the Southside District and the Commercial and Financial District in the Phu My Hung City Center. The construction of Ca Cam 1 Bridge makes much sense because many new projects have been completed in the Southside District like the Happy Residence and Nam Phuc Le Jardin. Ca Cam 1 is the sixth and last bridge to be built in the Phu My Hung City Center and completes the city centre’s transportation infrastructure.

Along with Ca Cam 1 Bridge, Phu My Hung Development Corporation this year will also focus on upgrading inner roads and other infrastructure. In the second quarter of this year the expansion of Nguyen Van Linh Parkway from Nguyen Thi Thap to Tan Thuan Industrial Zone will be widened from six lanes to 10 lanes.

Pre-feasibility study of high-speed railway project submitted to PM

According to a pre-feasibility study report for North-South high speed railway project, the total length of the railway is about 1,560 km, running along the North-South corridor, going through 20 localities, connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Of the total, the 14-km section in Hanoi shares the infrastructure with the Hanoi urban railway No. 1 (from Hanoi station to Ngoc Hoi station), and the remaining connects Ngoc Hoi station to Thu Thiem station, with 27 stations, five depots, and 42 infrastructure maintenance facilities. It is designed for passenger trains to run with a maximum speed of 350km/hour.

The first phase of the project has a total investment of 561.6 trillion VND (about 24.71 billion), while the second costs 772.6 trillion VND. The whole project is scheduled to be completed in 2050.

VND10-trillion antiflooding project in HCMC to be completed by end-2019

Ban on motorcycles under discussion

Speaking at a conference held by the HCMC Fatherland Front Committee on March 1 to discuss a draft to improve public transport and curb the use of private motor vehicles, participating experts proposed the ban on motorcycles should be reconsidered. Vice chair of the HCMC Lawyers Association, stated that motorbikes remain a major mode of street transport, accounting for 90% of the total vehicles on roads. Meanwhile, public transport has yet to meet residents’ travel needs. He was also worried about the feasibility of the ban, adding that it could go against residents’ travel rights as the country has yet to issue regulations prohibiting people from travelling.
