The Hot New Market for Luxury Property Is Vietnam

Prices for luxury condominiums in Ho Chi Minh City climbed 17 percent in 2018 to an average of US$5,518 per square meter, according to CBRE Group Inc. The firm forecasts they’ll climb nearly 10 percent by early 2020 to US$6,000 per square meter. (More affordable condos in the city only increased 1 percent last year)

 

 

Phan Thiet airport project (Binh Thuan): Expected construction in quarter 3/2019
According to the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, in order to strive to implement the project in quarter 3/2019 according to the registered schedule, the provincial leaders require the Department of Transport to actively work with the Ministry of Transport soon having contents of appraisal of the basic design of the project, coordinating with the Department of Planning and Investment to complete the evaluation and adjustment of the feasibility study report to the Provincial People's Committee for approval.
     


 

Japanese Brand Muji Will Open First Vietnam Store in 2020
Japanese household goods and apparel chain Muji plans to open in Vietnam next year. The company will establish its subsidiary Muji Vietnam this August with headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City. The first store is scheduled to open in the second quarter. Muji’s parent Ryohin Keikaku says it chose Vietnam as Muji’s next overseas market because of the country’s fast-paced development. Vietnam has the third-largest population in ASEAN and is undergoing rapid economic growth


 

 

AirAsia to begin operations in Vietnam in August
 
 
AirAsia’s representative told the local press that the carrier does not aim to scramble for aviation market share, but will build up a new market with air routes it plans to open such as Kuala Lumpur – Da Nang, Kuala Lumpur – Phu Quoc, Bangkok – Da Nang and Chiang Mai – Da Nang. AirAsia, the biggest low-cost air carrier in  Southeast Asia, and Thien Minh Group, with its subsidiary Hai Au Aviation JSC (HAA), are expected to officially submit the application for air transport service licenses in Vietnam.

 

 

Da Nang mulls $200 million investment in horse-racing course
A horse-racing course and horse breeding center are two proposed projects being considered by Da Nang City for 2019, worth a total of US$200 million.

 

 

Foreign investors pump US$6 billion into HCM City via M&A
As a popular investment channel for foreign investors in recent times, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) secured Ho Chi Minh City US$6 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in 2018. At a recent conference held in the southern largest economic hub, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem said nearly 3,300 foreign investors were granted approval to register some US$6 billion in investment in the city through M&A deals.

 

 

HCMC approves design contest of downtown park
Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has approved a design competition for construction planning at a scale of 1:500 for September 23 Park in downtown city. The zoning design must connect in harmony with neighboring districts especially the Ben Thanh Market and Bui Vien, Pham Ngu Lao streets which are dubbed the city’s ‘backpacker area’. Moreover, the design must ensure connecting underground areas for parking purpose as well as meet the criteria for harmonious arrangement of greenery, lakes and public space in contribution to drainage for the park in the rainy season and sidewalks surrounding the park.
 

 

 

HCMC limits building resettlement houses with state budget
HCMC will limit spending the state budget for new resettlement projects but call on businesses to invest in the projects to meet demand in the city, said deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen at the meeting on the management of houses and housing land for resettlement purpose yesterday.

 

 

HCMC to test first metro line in October 2020
 
Deputy chairman of HCMC People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen yesterday required HCMC Urban Railways Management Board (MAUR) to make efforts to finish the first metro line project, Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien, and launch trial operation at the end of October 2020 at the latest.
