Experts predict positive outlook for Vietnam’s tourism post-COVID

		Given Vietnam’s successful control of COVID-19, experts in tourism and hospitality have predicted a positive outlook for Vietnam’s tourism post-COVID crisis. Upcoming opportunities include investing in domestic travel, new tourism products, high-quality human resources, digitalisation in tourism, and infrastructure to help the country shine on both the local and international stage, local and international tourism industry leaders said at a roundtable organised by RMIT University on Wednesday (Jan 20).

“Vietnam: Travel to Love!” campaign promotes tourism

		Launched by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the tourism promotion campaign entitled "Vietnam: Travel to Love!" ("Vietnam: Di de Yeu!") was officially deployed on the YouTube digital platform from January 7, 2021. The campaign shows the determination of the tourism industry in using digital technology as a tool for supporting national tourism development.

Public investment to focus on key projects to create impetus for economic growth

Thu Duc City government comes into operation on January 22

		Wards of newly-established Thu Duc City officially came into operation on January 22 and the first meeting of Thu Duc City People's Council took place on the same day to elect leaders of Thu Duc City People's Council and People's Committee according to regulations. The authorities of District 2, 9 and Thu Duc will end their duties, rights and transfer them to the Thu Duc City government. Therefore, the seals of agencies, units and wards under the government of districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc became invalid on January 21.

AEON provides new momentum for Binh Duong real estate market

		AEON Mall Binh Duong not only adds new shopping and entertainment facilities but also increases the value of real estate in Binh Duong New City. In December 2020, AEON Vietnam inked a deal with Becamex Tokyu Joint Venture and Tokyu Group (Japan) to build a supermarket based on the "Compact GMS" model, a first hypermarket in Binh Duong. The hypermarket is at SORA gardens SC commercial center, covering 120,000 square meters in Binh Duong New City, scheduled to open in early 2023. In the first phase, AEON will develop nearly 5,000 square meters out of its 21,500 square meters.

Recent fallen-off rubber cushion of metro line No.1 replaced

		After the fallen-off rubber cushion incident occurred at a section from Binh Thai Intersection to Thu Duc Intersection under the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line project, the Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) yesterday required contractors and relevant units to review all procedures relating to checking and selecting suppliers, preliminary experiments profile and experiment volume for rubber cushions.

HCMC continues to beat the drum for minibuses

		Public minibuses remain on HCMC’s agenda despite the government’s rejection of the proposal since most of its streets are narrow and the metro has been delayed. In HCMC, 58 percent of streets are less than 10 meters wide and 85 percent of its population lives in narrow streets, but buses mainly operate on streets that are more than 10 meters wide. This has caused people to shun buses and opt for private transport, seen as one of the main causes of congestion, air pollution and accidents.

A peek into Hanoi’s 2nd metro line
