Phu Quoc will be the first coastal island city of Vietnam

In the recently submitted plan to the Government, Kien Giang province plans to establish Phu Quoc City with eight wards and a subordinate commune. After its establishment, Phu Quoc city has a natural area of more than 589km 2 and a population of 127,709. Previously, according to the Notice No. 27 of the Politburo, Phu Quoc island district was oriented to build a special economic and administrative unit of the country. However, the National Assembly has not yet passed the Law on Special Economic Administrative Units, so it has not yet established a foundation.

 

 

Japan to help Hanoi clean up To Lich River

 

The Prime Minister welcomed a proposal regarding free funding to pilot the treatment of water pollution in a section of the To Lich River and a corner of West Lake with new technology, saying it is an idea that may help Vietnam strengthen environmental protection during industrialization and modernization. He also expressed his appreciation of help from the Japanese Government in calling for funding. 
The successful treatment of water pollution in the To Lich River and West Lake will provide a good example for subsequent cases of pollution.

     


 

Hanoi to spend big on infrastructure till 2020
 

The Hanoi People’s Council on April 9 approved a mid-term public investment plan for 25 projects in the 2016-2020 period and the addition of VND1.97 trillion (US$84.6 million) to investment budget plan in 2019. Accordingly, the council gave a green light to 23 projects of a mid-term investment plan with a total investment of VND5.94 trillion (US$255 million). It as well adjusted the investment policy of another two projects with a total cost of VND915.45 billion (US$39.3 million).


 

 

HCMC admin procedures a hassle, say real estate firms
 
 
 

Representatives of 100 real estate firms who met with HCMC authorities expressed disappointment that their requests and complaints have not been resolved for a long time now. The reason is that the construction department could not verify if the land for the project, which was acquired by the company in 2005, was public land or not. The acquisition has to be verified by the city’s Department of Finance, but it has not done this so far. Even after the company proved that the land was not public land, the finance department’s delay in producing a written verification has resulted in the project’s fate remaining unclear

 

 

Parkson Vietnam revamps HCMC flagship
 
Parkson Vietnam has kicked off the renovation of its six-story Saigon Tourist Plaza flagship in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. Located on Le Thanh Ton, refurbishment of the first Parkson Vietnam store will be implemented progressively, floor by floor. During the project, the Parkson store will remain partially open for business. It says the new store design concept will turn the store into an all-in-one destination that offers a combination of shopping, food & beverage, and entertainment.

 

 

CapLand to build on S$11b ASB deal in Singapore, China, India, Vietnam
The property giant will seek shareholder approval this Friday for its proposed S$11 billion mega-purchase of industrial and commercial real estate player Ascendas-Singbridge (ASB) from state-owned Temasek Holdings. If the deal is completed, the enlarged group, with assets under management of S$123.4 billion, will double down on the key markets of Singapore, China, India and Vietnam.

 

 

Keppel Land to build luxury hotel in downtown HCMC
The Keppel Land leader said the firm had completed investing in the first phase of the project, including a shopping mall, an office building for lease, which has attracted many multiple-national corporations, and well-operated serviced apartments. Up to 30,000 people visit these locations every day.

Meanwhile, construction of the luxury hotel, as well as a large-scale convention center, will be developed in the next phases of the project. Keppel Land is quickly putting sub-projects into service and creating more added values for the entire project, and city center.

 

 

 

FastGo announces Vietnam’s first helicopter ride-sharing service

 

With 12 passengers to a helicopter, FastSky will operate tours from Hanoi to northern tourist destinations such as the Red River and Ha Long Bay. Apart from SkyTour, FastGo also operate SkyWedding services for wedding photography and SkySOS for emergencies in which helicopters will land on Hanoi skyscrapers to pick up patients,
Prices vary for each service. A tour will cost a minimum of $125 per person, which can be paid in installments over a period of 12 months.
