Hanoi's first sky train to commercially run before 2019 Tet holiday

The Chinese-invested Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated railway in Hanoi city began a trial run on September 20 morning. The Railway Project Management Unit (RPPM) under Ministry of Transport has just announced that the Cat Linh – Ha Dong elevated railway, the first of its kind in Hanoi, will be ready for commercial operation before the upcoming Tet holiday, which falls in early February 2019.

PM approves road linking Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expy and Sapa

The Prime Minister has approved the construction of a road connecting the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway and Sapa Town in the northern upland province of Lao Cai, with estimated total investment capital of VND2.5 trillion, under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) format. The project will be executed in two phases: Phase one will run from this year until 2020, and phase two will begin immediately thereafter. Site clearance and the construction of a 13.8-kilometer-long section of Provincial Road 155, running from the intersection linking the expressway and Provincial Road 4D, will be completed in the first phase.

Ha Noi to build 48.5-hectare urban area in Bac Tu Liem

Ha Noi People’s Committee has approved a 1:500 scale plan of Vibex urban area which covers more than 48.5 hectares in Bac Tu Liem District with a population of 7,000. The urban area will stretch through three wards, including Duc Thang, Dong Ngac and Thuy Phuong. It will be developed by Ha Noi Concrete Construction Joint Stock Company.

HCMC calls for investors for two smart city projects

Speaking at the conference, HCMC Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan called on both domestic and international investors and experts to co-develop these two centres and turn HCMC into a smart city. Nhan set the target that the general structural framework of these two centres must be finished before 2019. From 2020 onwards, these two centres will be piloted in District 1, 12, and Thu Thiem New Urban Area and expanded to other districts of the city later on.

Long An to have first solar farm

Vietnam's President Tran Dai Quang Is Dead at 61 Following a Serious Illness

The government said he passed away despite domestic and foreign treatment efforts. He died at a hospital in Hanoi and the government statement did not elaborate on his illness. His last public appearance was at a Politburo meeting of the ruling Communist Party September 19. Born in northern Ninh Binh province, Quang attended a police college and rose through the ranks at various positions at the Ministry of Public Security before being appointed minister in 2011. He effectively became second most powerful man in Vietnam after General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Mitsubishi and its subsidiary Temasek invest $ 2.5 billion in urban areas throughout South East Asia, including Vietnam

Surbana Jurong, a subsidiary of Temasek Group in Singapore, will co-operate with Mitsubishi Japan to develop its urban areas throughout Southeast Asia, according to Nikkei. Surbana Jurong – Mitsubishi was established this year to implement projects in some countries such as Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines … in South East Asia and India, Sri Lanka. According to the initial plan, the project will be invested $ 2.5 billion and developed within 5 years. Comprehensive urban development packages will include transport infrastructure such as rail and road; housing, shopping centers, hospitals and other public projects.
